If your question is not here, email us and we will answer it — and probably add it to this page.
Ordering and delivery
How much is delivery?
£3.95 for UK standard delivery, and free on orders over £20, which is three bags. We only ship within the United Kingdom at the moment.
How long will it take to arrive?
We grind after you order rather than before, so allow two to three working days before it goes out and another two to three in the post. It is slower than a warehouse. It is also the reason the coffee tastes of anything.
Can I collect, or get it faster?
Not yet. If you need coffee urgently for an event, email us and we will tell you honestly whether we can make it.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Not currently. Green coffee travels a long way to get here already, and we would rather get UK delivery right before adding customs paperwork to the pile.
The coffee
What does washed process actually mean?
The fruit is removed from the seed before drying, rather than dried around it. It takes more water and more work, and it gives you a cleaner, brighter cup where the origin comes through instead of the processing.
How dark is the roast?
Medium. We do not roast in-house — we buy the roasted coffee and grind it ourselves — but we specify medium throughout. These are floral, citrus-driven coffees grown between 800 and 1,450 metres, and roasting them dark would burn off the things worth paying for.
How fresh will it be?
Ground within a few days of it reaching you, because we grind to order rather than in advance. Ground coffee starts fading within a fortnight, which is the whole reason we do it that way. Buy whole bean if you own a grinder and it will keep longer still.
How should I store it?
Sealed, at room temperature, away from light. Not the fridge, and not the freezer unless you are freezing it unopened for months. Buy smaller bags more often rather than one big one you work through slowly.
Is it single origin or a blend?
Single origin, and only one of it. Everything in the shop is the same washed arabica from Kavre — what changes is whether you get it whole, ground, or in sachets.
Grind and brewing
Which grind should I pick?
Whole bean if you own a grinder, because coffee starts fading within minutes of being ground. Otherwise: Filter for pour-over and drip machines, Cafetiere for a French press, Espresso for a machine. If you are unsure, Filter is the most forgiving. We grind each order individually, so tell us what you need.
What is a drip kit?
A single-serve sachet of ground coffee with paper wings that hook over your mug. You pour hot water through it and throw it away. No equipment, no washing up — good for travel, offices and hotel rooms.
My coffee tastes sour. What went wrong?
It is under-extracted. Grind finer, use water closer to 94°C, or pour more slowly so the water spends longer in contact with the coffee.
My coffee tastes bitter and drying.
The opposite problem — over-extracted. Grind coarser, or shorten the brew. Bitterness is far more often too fine a grind than too dark a roast.
Orders, accounts and invoices
Do you offer subscriptions?
Every purchase is a one-time order. Choose your coffee whenever you need it; there are no recurring charges.
Where can I find my invoice?
After payment, Stripe creates a paid invoice. Sign in to your account and open Billing & invoices to view your billing details and invoice history.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Choose Forgot password on the sign-in page. We will email a secure reset link. If you checked out as a guest, create and confirm an account using the same email to see those orders.
Returns and problems
Can I return coffee I do not like?
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations you can cancel within 14 days of delivery and return the goods within 14 days of telling us. Sealed food can be excluded once opened on hygiene grounds — but in practice, if a bag is not right, tell us what happened and we will usually replace or refund it anyway.
It arrived damaged.
Send a photo within 30 days and we will replace it. Do not post a split bag back to us.
